World Games’ Lacrosse Gold Medal Game on ESPNU

We did it in the World Juniors in hockey and now its time for Team USA Lacrosse to get a little cocky and should what USA is all about.  Time for everyone to get pumped about playing Canada again.  We do still have to play Japan again in a rematch of last rounds 19-5 win and Canada has to top Australia but say everything goes to plan, once that happens tune in to ESPNU at 11 AM to watch the gold medal game.  Hopefully the victory celebration will look something similar to this:

Over-Under: The Iroquois get to Manchester?

With all the hype of the World Games this week in Manchester, England you would think the main topic of discussion would be looking forward to the Canada – USA matchup.  A Matchup that had gone Canada’s way recently even though field lacrosse is an American game.  Ironically the people who started the game of lacrosse, the Native Americans of this country aren’t being allowed to travel and play because of their Haudenosaunee passports.  Members of the Iroquois National Team are located mostly in northern USA and Canada and have been using their Haudenosaunee passports for years with no travel problems however they may be forced to miss the tournament completely.  We can only root for the Iroquois and hoped for not only their sake but for the history of the game of lacrosse they are able to travel and compete in Manchester this summer.

New Face of Lacrosse?

Over the past few years Paul Rabil has become the face of lacrosse media with his Maverick commercials, long hair and now Red Bull sponsorship, but could there be new face taking over?  After the NCAA decided to allow Duke Lacrosse members an extra year of eligibility, a number of players decided to take their 5th year to seek a much anticipating including the most recent NCAA star Ned Crotty.  Within the past two months Crotty has won a Division 1 National Championship, while gaining First Team All-Americans Honors for the second time in his career along with being name the greatest honor in the story, the Tewaaraton Trophy winner.  Years ago that might have been the last award to put in his trophy case at home, however only a short while after Memorial Day weekend he was named the #1 pick in the MLL draft (11 points in his first 4 games) and not to mention he is playing for Team USA this upcoming summer to win the World Games.  Oh and he just signed a deal with Brine.  Is it Crotty’s time for the lacrosse media limelight?
